We build and run one mobile app for everyday tasks — free on iOS and Android, supported by the people who wrote it.
Van den Herik GmbH is a software company with a single product: a mobile app for the small administrative work that fills an ordinary week. The lists. The reminders. The document you will need again in three months. The appointment you agreed to on the phone and have already half-forgotten. It is not a platform and not an ecosystem. It is an app you open, use for forty seconds, and close again.
We decided early that the app would do fewer things than it could. Every feature carries weight: a screen to learn, a setting to get wrong, a notification that arrives at the wrong moment. So the test for anything new is not whether we can build it, but whether someone who installed the app yesterday would find it without being told. Most proposals do not pass that test. The ones that do stay plain on the surface and are usually complicated underneath — which is the correct way round.
The app is a free download in both stores. You can use the basics straight away. An account exists for one reason: so that what you have stored survives a new phone, a reinstall, a cracked screen. You create it with an email address and a password, you can export what is in it, and you can delete it from inside the app without writing to anyone first.
Push notifications are opt-in and granular. You decide which categories may interrupt you, you can silence them for a stretch of the day, and you can switch them off entirely without losing anything else. We do not use the notification channel for marketing. A notification from us is a thing you asked to be reminded of.
Support lives inside the app, not on a separate website you have to find. The help section is searchable and written in the same language as the interface. If it does not answer the question, the message form sends your app version and device model along with the text, so nobody asks you to repeat information the app already knows.
iOS and Android are planned together and shipped together. We do not build a feature on one platform and promise the other for later; if it is not ready on both, it waits. Updates are small and frequent rather than large and rare, because a small change that breaks something is a change we can find.
The company is based in Germany and the app is developed here. We keep the data model narrow on purpose: the less we store, the less there is to explain, to protect, and to get wrong.
Most people never need to — they install the app and that is the whole relationship, which is how it should be. Write to us if you are considering the app for a group or a workforce, if you want to talk about distribution or integration, if you are a journalist, or if you have a question the help section did not answer. The form at the bottom of this page reaches a person.
A free download for iOS and Android. No trial that expires, no card details at install, no feature that quietly switches off after a week.
Create an account once and your lists, reminders and files come back when you sign in on a new device. Export and deletion are both inside the app.
Per-category switches, a quiet stretch of the day, and one switch that turns everything off. Nothing we send through that channel is advertising.
A searchable help section in the app, plus a message form that sends your app version and device with it so you are not asked to look them up.
iOS and Android are built from the same plan and ship on the same day. If a change is not ready on both, it waits for the next release.
Photographs from the floor where it is written, tested and supported.
Your name, an address we can reply to, and a line about what it concerns — the app itself, a larger group of users, distribution, or press.
Product, support or management, depending on what you wrote. Nobody passes it around a queue first.
A direct answer, or the two or three questions we need in order to give you one. A call only if the matter is genuinely easier spoken than written.
Questions about the app, about using it across a team, about distribution or press — this form reaches us directly.
Someone from the responsible team will get in touch shortly.
